History

Frederick Herbert Slack II was born July 8th, 1950 to the parents of Frederick Herbert Slack and Celestine (Sheffield) Slack in Cleveland, Ohio. Before his first birthday, the Slack family relocated to the "Faraway-House", in Medina County; approximately thirty miles south, southwest of Cleveland. Established plans for eduction in England collapsed when his father passed away three months prior to Fredericks 12th birthday.

Mr. Slack graduated from Cloverleaf High School (Medina County) in 1968. In 1969, Frederick was drafted, completed OCS and served over three years in the Intelligence Division (SPS) of the US Army and was stationed in Central and South America during his tour. After receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of Major, Mr. Slack returned to northeast Ohio and re-entered The University of Akron.

Upon graduation from the University of Akron in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in Biology and Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Slack was recruited as one of five selected nationally by Chrysler Engineering to enter their highly acclaimed Plant Manager Training program.  The position provided the opportunity to obtain professional engineering status and to acumen a vast industrial knowledge base.

In October 1977, Frederick married Laurel Sue Prine. Together they raised four children: Amanda Lynn Slack (Smith), Heather Elizabeth Slack, Julia Anne Slack (Goff) and Jeremiah Charles Slack. After twenty-three years of marriage, Laurel passed away from complications acquired from "Stiffmans Syndrome" (SMS) in February 2001. In February 2005 Fredericks mother Celestine, passed away in her Medina, Ohio home.

Throughout his career, Mr. Slack has enjoyed positions of National Director of Marketing for a west coast environmental manufacturer, Senior Vice President for a major engineering firm and, President and CEO of national hazardous waste disposal and recycling company. Additionally, Frederick served as Chairman of The Board of Public Affairs in his hometown from January 1991 through June 2004.
